I am an Australian freelance science journalist and the author of Green is Good – Smart Ways to Live Well and Help the Planet, a popular green lifestyle book published by HarperCollins.
My work has been published online and in print in publications such as Australian Geographic, SilverKris, and Australian Women’s Health. Clients include Nature Group, Australian National University, CSIRO, University of Canberra, the National Portrait Gallery, Refraction Media and Science in Public.
Between 2007 and 2012 I was a regular contributor to Green Lifestyle Magazine. I was the Eco Advisor to Women’s Health Magazine (2009 – 2012) and the Sustainability Ambassador for HarperCollins (2006-2008).
Prior to becoming a full-time freelancer I worked as a science communicator for CSIRO, ANU and the Green Building Council of Australia, focusing on environment and sustainability. Before that I worked for ten years as an environmental manager for government and not for profits. I also worked in wildlife research, monitoring legless lizards and earless dragons in Canberra and the endangered Rarotongan Flycatcher in the Cook Islands.
I have a Masters of Environmental Science from the University of New South Wales and undergraduate degrees in Science and Arts from the Australian National University.
